Very cool Linux distro!

February 24th, 2009

Good day! This was my newest post after how many months. Well it’s good to be back! *_- . I’ve been using Ubuntu on Windows using Wubi on an on-off basis. I’m still not really sold out into using Linux all out. Searching through Google for another Linux distro, I stumbled upon this website http://www.elivecd.org/.

It has a website title that says “Where Debian meets Enlightenment” making it interesting. After watching the video on the main page, man, the showcase rocks! I’ll be downloading this distro to try it out soon and I can’t wait what this distro have to make me go “oooh” and “aaah”.

ReactOS: Trying out the Windows replacement OS

September 19th, 2008

“For every OS there is an equal and opposite, ReactOS”.

In this case, it is the Windows® operating system that’s getting the equal and opposite OS. ReactOS, by the way, is a free operating system written completely from scratch, that aims to follow the Windows® architecture from the hardware level right through to the application level. That said, the OS also claims that it is not a Linux-based system but incorporates many design decisions from other operating system families like UNIX, VMS, OS/2 and of course NT.

If the above description did not suffice to get me interested, I do not know what Read the rest of this entry »

HTTPS could be vulnerable

September 2nd, 2008

HTTPS Vulnerability? Don’t worry though, HTTPS is secure…so long as you are careful with how you handle your sessions online. Attackers can use the information you used to login to a secure site in order for them to access your accounts. This is known as surf jacking. For a whole picture as to how this is done, follow this link: http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/networking/?p=634 at TechRepublic. For a more interesting information, please visit “Enablesecurity.com” where there is a video where an attack is simulated on an unsuspecting victim.

EON Visa Electron

August 21st, 2008

I opened an EON CyberAccount from UnionBank (one of the popular banks in the Philippines) and just got the EON card with the VISA logo on it yesterday! For those who have no idea what I’m talking about, let me tell you what an EON Cyberaccount is.

This is the description of the EON CyberAccount from its website:

Smallest USB Drive

August 14th, 2008

I was recently browsing the web for the USB drive mods when I came upon an article about a gold-plated USB thumb drive which claims to be the smallest USB drive on the market today.

The thumb drive I’m talking about is Read the rest of this entry »

Succesful Twitter attempt

July 31st, 2008

My first twit from my phone just got through! Hooray! No gateways, no special twitter clients, just my plain old built-in browser and my service provider’s per kilobyte GPRS connection. I just logged on to http://m.twitter.com using my phone’s browser and then it was just a breeze from that point on.  This calls for a celebration! :)

Woes to Hidden Website Elements
Ok, so I still have a couple of things to say so please bear with me. :) This website is unbearably loading reallllly slow sometimes and I wonder why that is. One time, when I visited this site, I noticed that there was a momentary flash or flicker when the home page loads. My first guess was that there must be hidden elements loading in my website. I tried to verify my guess using the “Show hidden elements” function from Read the rest of this entry »

Web developers should know html

July 25th, 2008

I was kind of busy lately and writing this post is a break for me. Whew. During the past week while I was surfing for tech news, I came by a forum with topics about almost anything. Skimming through the forum, this http://www.linkreferral.com/forumlist.pl?cat_id=2&topic_id=25387 caught my attention. I’ve come across many discussions from several other fora that also addressed this kind of topic. I’d like to say something about what I think about this issue.

My interest about web designing began when I was 15 years old, way back 2000. I started designing webpages using HTML coded by hand. Yes, I typed every tag back then. Today, I still code some HTML by hand and working in an IT company that caters to clients with web-based needs, I am a bit Read the rest of this entry »
